LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Saturday approached the Lahore High Court (LHC)  to remove her name from Exit Control List (ECL).
The counsel for Maryam Nawaz filed the petition which states she wishes to travel abroad for six weeks to take to take care of her ailing father Nawaz Sharif whose is undergoing treatment in London. The petition seeks directives for the government to strike her name off the no-fly list.
A division bench, headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi, will hear the petition on December 9 (Monday). The Ministry of Interior, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman have beencited as respondents in the petition.
The petition argues that Maryam Nawaz’s name was placed on the ECL without providing her an opportunity for a fair hearing.
The ex-premier’s daughter pleaded that she has been appearing before courts for the past one and a half year. She said that father after her mother’s death she tends to her father in case of an ailment.
Maryam further said her father’s health condition is worsening which has placed her under a lot of mental stress.
She recalled that she along with her father returned to the country leaving her ailing mother in London last year in July to face the prison term awarded in the Avenfield reference case
The PML-N leader pleaded with the court to let her travel abroad for six weeks and direct the authorities to return her passport.
