Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Thursday shocked the nation with his tone-deaf comment about the state of the Pakistani people.
The clip showing the true colors of the Pakistani leadership is being passed around on the web. This time it’s the caretaker premier who has shown the world why Pakistan is in such a sorry state.
While interacting with business community in Karachi on Wednesday, the caretaker Prime Minister said that people talked about Pakistanis leaving the country. “So, what if they do?” the PM said.
Netizens were shocked by the PM’s insensitive comment, and expressed their displeasure on social media.
It should be noted that this is not the first time a Pakistani PM passed such tone-deaf remark about the people. Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had said “Pakistanis are free to leave the country if they want.”
During a CNN interview with Becky Anderson in 2012, Gilani was asked about poll results that reveal that about a third of Pakistanis want to leave the country.
Responding to which he said, “Why don’t they leave? Who is stopping them?”
Here’s X reacted to PM Kakar’s comment;
