Pakistan, UAE vow to further strengthen economic ties

ABU DHABI: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen bilateral and economic ties.

This came at a meeting between Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

Bilawal paid an official visit to condole over the death of Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the brother of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away on July 27.

The two foreign ministers discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global developments in the region. They expressed satisfaction over their multidimensional cooperation including in trade, investment, energy, information technology and infrastructure.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked the UAE leadership for its consistent and unwavering support to Pakistan in difficult times.

The UAE’s Foreign Minister appreciated the valuable contributions made by the Pakistani community in the development of the UAE.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari participated in the unveiling of the wax figure of late Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto at Madame Tussauds in Dubai.

In his remarks on the occasion, he spoke about the legacy of Benazir Bhutto as the first female Prime Minister from the Muslim world who continues to inspire youth, women and democratic movements around the world.

A day earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited the UAE to offer his condolences on the demise of the brother of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Last Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for the UAE to offer condolences on the death of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan’s brother.

The premier departed on a day-long visit where he offered condolences over Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan’s death on behalf of the entire nation, the government and the leadership. He was accompanied by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

During his meeting with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed at the presidential palace, PM Shehbaz conveyed profound sympathies and condolences which were received with great warmth.
