Fake account case: Zardari’s bail plea extended for 7 days

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has extended the appeal of former president Asif Ali Zardari’s bail plea of seeking his release on medical grounds in the fake Bank account case for seven days.
The IHC directed the PIMS hospital to constitute a new medical board to examine ailing former president who is currently admitted to the PIMS hospital due to his worsening health.
The IHC’s two-member special bench consisting of Justice Athar Minhallah and Justice Aamir Farooq heard the bail plea of the Zardari leader seeking his release on medical grounds.

Zardari’s counsel Farooq H. Naek during the hearing notified the court that his client was suffering from several diseases and pleaded to pass orders for his release on bail.
The IHC CJ, Athar Minhallah inquired Naek about the medical report of his client.
He asked Naek that was Zardari’s medical report attached to the plea. To this, he replied in yes, the report was of PIMS hospital was attached with the plea.

Earlier on Tuesday, Zardari on request of his youngest daughter filed a bail petition on medical grounds in the IHC.
He was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) earlier this year on charges of laundering billions of rupees through fictitious accounts.
The money laundering case refers to the embezzlement of Rs4.4 billion. NAB has accused Zardari of owning shares of the Zardari Group, a company that received some of the embezzled funds.
