The Edhi Foundation (EF) plans to expand its air-ambulance fleet by adding three more aircraft. These aircraft will include two from the United States and one from Russia.
The new aircraft will join the existing fleet of two aircraft and one helicopter that provide relief and assistance during natural disasters and emergencies.
The head of the Edhi Foundation, Faisal Edhi, said that the new aircraft will acquired soon and will used to airlift the injured and stranded people to the nearest hospitals during any calamity. He also said that a new center for the foundation will establish in Punjab to cater to the needs of the people in that province.
Since purchasing its first aircraft from Germany in 2005, the Edhi Foundation has operated an air ambulance service. This programme was established to deliver prompt and effective medical aid to Pakistan’s victims of the country’s frequent earthquakes, floods, landslides, and other natural disasters. The service aids in moving patients who require specialised care as well as the transportation of organs for transplant.
The Edhi Foundation is well-known for its social activities and humanitarian efforts both in Pakistan and internationally. the charity started by the late Abdul Sattar Edhi, a man who lived a life devoted to helping others. It runs a nationwide network of ambulances, medical centres, clinics, orphanages, shelters, cemeteries, and other institutions. The charity also offers the poor and needy free healthcare, shelter, and other necessities.
