LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has declared Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif innocent in the Ashiana Housing scandal.

The NAB said that there is no evidence of abuse of authority or malice in the Ashiana housing scheme. It is proved without a doubt that PM Shehbaz Sharif and Kamran Kayani did not damage the public treasury.
NAB said that Fawad Hasan Fawad also did not take bribes to get the contract. Accused Shehbaz Sharif had sent the matter of the Ashiana housing scheme to Anti-corruption under legal procedure. The accountability court should decide on the prime minister’s plea of acquittal.
Earlier, NAB had given illegal orders to PM Shehbaz Sharif as Chief Minister of Punjab to transfer the Ashiana scheme project from PLDC to LDA, and then from LDA to LDC. He was charged.
NAB accused PM Shehbaz Sharif of transferring the project to Paragon, then keeping it in public-private partnership mode under illegal orders, and then illegally interfering in the affairs of the board.
