It may be recalled that Murad Saeed had approached the LHC seeking information about the cases registered against him and requested security to avoid arrest. He submitted an application to the court, in which he also pleaded for the formation of a team comprising federal and provincial governments, as well as the Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The PTI leader claimed that the government is continuously filing cases against PTI leaders based on political enmity. He argued that such actions are unconstitutional and unlawful.
The petition submitted by Saeed stated that he has been facing politically motivated cases and the relevant institutions have not provided details of those cases. He wants to appear in the concerned courts and seek bail in the listed cases. Therefore, he requested the court to stop the proceedings of those cases and provide the details of the listed cases.
The LHC, acting on Saeed’s plea, restrained the police from harassing him. It has also summoned details of cases filed against him.
