ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) led ruling coalition has reportedly decided to become a party in the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Supreme Court (SC) against the postponing of elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Multiple media outlets reported that key partners in the ruling coalition, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUIF) would file a plea to become a party in the case today (Tuesday) to present their point of view in the court.
MM News has learnt that Special Assistant to PM Ata Tarar has reached Supreme Court to finalize details.

The PTI, it may be recalled here, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the election commission’s decision of postponing the elections in Punjab, originally scheduled for April 30, till 8th October 2023.
While hearing the PTI’s plea, the apex court had sought an answer from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
