KARACHI: Sindh Health Department on Tuesday confirmed the presence of the Covid-19’s sub-variant BF-7 in Karachi.
“This sub-variant of Omicron variant of the coronavirus has recently infected people in China on massive scale,” Sindh Health Department said while confirming the highly contagious corona sub-variant BF-7 in Karachi.
“It is the first case of the highly infectious corona sub-variant BF-7 reported in Pakistan,” provincial health authorities stated.
The Omicron sub-variants XBB and XBB-1 were previously confirmed in Karachi by the Sindh Health Department.
The health authority previously announced in a statement that six cases of the novel Covid-19 strain had been found in Karachi.
Earlier, health professionals had urged patients to visit a doctor to be examined if they became ill. “Those who are ill have been told to wear face masks and to stay out of public places,” the statement reads.
