KARACHI: Renowned scholar and Chairman of the Islamic Economic Center, Mufti Taqi Usmani has declared that no armed struggle is allowed for implementation of Shariat in the country.
Addressing a seminar on the subject of “ending interest-based system”, here on Wednesday, he said there was no difference regarding interest (Riba) among different schools of thought of the Muslim population.

He further said “I wanted an end to the interest-based system (Riba) in the country, and the objective of “Harmat-e-sud Seminar ” was to end this system. A joint voice based on consensus must be raised to end the scourge from the country.”
He demand of the concerned authorities and institutions to bring an end to the Interest-based system in the country and implement interest-free banking.
The seminar is being held in collaboration with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Center for Islamic Economics.
The Vice President of FPCCI says that the business community has welcomed the decision of the Federal Shariat Court.
He also said that there is a need for progress and ways to make the abolition of usurious system successful in practice.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmed, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haque, Mufti Muneebur Rahman, Shah Owais Noorani and Dr. Hussain Akbar are also participating in the seminar.
Senior bankers, economists and representatives of the business community will also address the seminar.
