On this occasion, Senator Shahzad Waseem narrated details as to how Azam Swati was picked up and subjected to torture-in-custody.

Later, talking to media after his meeting with the DG Human Rights Cell, Shahzad Wasim and Faisal Chaudhry said that they were grateful to the Supreme Court for paying heed on the issue of arrest and torture of Azam Swati.

He said the evidences regarding custodial torture were presented before the DG Human Rights Cell, and there were now hopes that the Supreme Court would take action.

It may be recalled that on October 17, PTI senators including leader of the opposition in the Senate, Senator Shehzad Waseem, wrote a letter to the Chief Justice detailing the torture of Senator Azam Swati by stripping him naked, and demanded to take Suo Motu notice.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan too had demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of this case.
