NAIROBI: A Kenyan media report, documenting the story of killing of prominent Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, has claimed that “the truth might be in what has not been documented” in the police report.

The report, narrating six facts about the assassination of Arshad Sharif, quoted an officer privy to the investigation saying on condition of anonymity that “the truth might be in what has not been documented” in the police report.

Kenyan media reports earlier suggested that the killing of Arshad Sharif along the Nairobi-Magadi highway was a case of ‘mistaken identity’, as his driver allegedly breached a roadblock that had been set up to check on motor vehicles using the route.

Keyan media reported that Arshad Sharif was traveling from Magadi town to Nairobi when they were flagged down at a roadblock being manned by a group of police officers, police said.

However, several Kenyan media outlets as well as journalists have disputed these reports and raised numerous questions about the authenticity of the police stance.

Kenyan media raises more intriguing questions about death of Arshad Sharif. Putting Pakistani media to shame which initially held the news for three hours. Then termed it a road accident, a few hours later labelled his death for traveling in a vehicle of drug dealers. SHAMEFUL! pic.twitter.com/aUGAZegoUp

Local journalist in Nairobi Eliud Kibii quoted Brian Obuya saying the vehicle of Arshad Sharif was shot at 9 times, four of those bullets to the left side of the vehicle and one deflated the right side tyre.

Brian Obuya himself took to Twitter and said the fatal shot that killed Arshad Sharif was fired with precision through the rear mirror of the car, penetrated through the back of his head and exited through the front side.
