QUETTA: The Corps Commander of Balochistan, Lt Gen Asif Ghafoor, visited the residence of former Chief Justice of the province, Justice Noor Meskanzai, who was shot dead outside a mosque in Kharan district last week.
Lt Gen Asif Ghafoor offered his heartfelt condolence with the bereaved family and paid tributes to the services rendered by Justice Noor Meskanzai.
Speaking on this occasion, the Corps Commander of Balochistan said Justice Noor Meskanzai was a brave and fearless Judge and his services for dispensing justice would always be remembered. He promised to brought the killers of Justice Noor Meskanzai to justice.
It may be recalled that Justice Noor Meskanzai was fatally shot a Mosque in Kharan last Friday. He was immediately rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
Meskanzai had served as the 18th chief justice of Balochistan High Court from 26 December 2014 to 31 August 2018. He later became the chief justice of the Federal Shariat Court, during which time he had penned the judgement that declared the Riba-based banking system against the Sharia. He retired from the Shariat Court in May. Meskanzai leaves behind his wife, five sons and three daughters.
The Home Department of Balochistan government had formed a seven-member JIT to investigate into the killing of Justice Meskanzai.
