Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is an ideal role model for us: PM

ISLAMABAD: As the nation celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi on Sunday with religious zeal and fervour, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that if an individual seeks greatness then should follow the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), and if a nation sought greatness they should follow example of the state of Madinah.

Addressing the International Rehmatul-lil-Alameen (PBUH) conference in connection with Eid Milad-ul-Nabi, the prime minister said that Prophet Muhammad’s birth “purified civilisation by inculcating characteristics like human dignity and forgiveness”.

In his message on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the greatest human being of all time and ideal role model for all of us.

He said our Prophet founded the State of Madinah on modern principles of rule of law, human rights, compassion, meritocracy and the pursuit of knowledge as a sacred duty, adding that a state will rise if it follows these principles.

“Our Prophet PBUH was the greatest human being of all time & hence the ideal role model for all of us. Anyone who follows his path will be liberated from the chains that keep us grounded & prevent us from fulfilling our potential.

“Our Prophet PBUH founded the State of Madinah on modern principles of Rule of Law, Human Rights, Compassion, Meritocracy & the Pursuit of Knowledge as a sacred duty. If a state follows these principles it will rise,” said the prime minister.

The prime minister said that the idea of a welfare state was first introduced by Islam. He said injustice leads to the end of merit that plays a key role in decline of any society. He said those who plundered the wealth of the nation deserve no right to be spared and no relaxations can be given to corrupt people.

He further said that compassion is for poor and downtrodden segments of society and not for powerful and corrupt people. He said it is state’s responsibility to look after the weaker segments.

However, the prime minister said that people also have a responsibility to play their due share in uplift of society, and for a state to function effectively, it needs revenues in the form of taxes to run the affairs efficiently.

PM Imran Khan also urged the Ulema and religious scholars to guide the government in transforming the country on the basis of Islamic principles.He expressed optimism that Pakistan would become a great nation by following the principles of state of Madinah.

He said Pakistan, Malaysia and Turkey have decided to jointly create films depicting great Islamic leaders in order to familiarise our population with our glorious history.

Addressing the Rehmatul-lil-Alameen (PBUH) Conference, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noor ul Haq Qadri said the Holy Prophet (PBUH) brought justice, knowledge and enlightenment in the society plunged in darkness, ignorance and injustice.

He said Allah Almighty took oath from all prophets regarding belief in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was to be final in the chain of Prophets.

The minister said the way the prime minister raised voice at the United Nations and other world forums for honour and dignity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is unprecedented.

He said the research papers and articles to be presented in the conference will serve as the foundation to turn Pakistan into a modern Islamic Welfare State.

Eid Miladun Nabi is being celebrated today with religious enthusiasm across the country. The day began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in all the provincial capitals.

Special prayers were offered for the unity of the Muslim Ummah as well as for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan were offered in various mosques. Special conferences, events and Mehfil Milad are also being held to mark the occasion.
