LONDON: Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was elated after he bagged his maiden first-class five-wicket haul while playing for Yorkshire in the County Championship Division One 2022.
The 28-year-old returned the figures of 5-65 from his 14 overs against Kent as his team restricted them to 291. Yorkshire ended the day on 326-5 and with 35-run lead. Haris opened the attack for Yorkshire, cleaning the top-order of the opposition’s batting.
Pakistani speedster sent back the Kent openers for a collective score of 16, as the division one top scorer, Ben Compton, and England’s Test batter, Zak Crawley, failed to handle Rauf’s pace. Haris Rauf then bagged another skull as the Kent captain walked back for a duck.
Continuing his dominating run on day 2, Haris Rauf first got Grant Stewart and then uprooted the stumps of Nathan Gilchrist to mark his first five-wicket haul in County Championship.
It is worth adding that this is the second time Haris has taken 5 or more wickets in an innings having played just 7 first-class matches.
Haris enjoyed a decent debut in the county cricket championship as he picked up 3/81 and 3/96 against Gloucestershire whereas could only manage figures of 1/52 and 2/76 against Northamptonshire.
Taking to Twitter, the Yorkshire County Cricket Club shared the footage of Haris claiming his fifth wicket.

“It was a very exciting moment for me when I took the five wickets and the crowd was cheering. I was very happy to see this,” Rauf was quoted as saying by Yorkshire County’s official website. “This is a different environment, but they are helping me,” he said of his new Yorkshire teammates.
“The skipper is asking me how I am feeling all of the time. Harry Brook has also played with me in PSL (Pakistan Super League), and Dawid I have met before in international matches. Everyone has been good to me, and I am enjoying it,” he added.
