KARACHI: At least 20 mud houses of Noorpur were burnt to ashes in a horrific fire in another village in Dadu district of Sindh province. The fire also damaged the livestock and grain of the poor and the valuable property was also extensively damaged.
According to details, the fire broke out at around 2.30 pm after a high voltage power line fell. DC Dadu Syed Murtaza Shah said that the fire spread to nearby houses due to strong winds which resulted in the burning of property of residents of Noorpur.
DC Dadu said that relief activities have been started to put out the fire. The locals started working with their help to put out the fire. Not a single fire tender could be sent by Meher district administration to control the fire.
Local residents said authorities were notified by phone as soon as the fire broke out, but no help was forthcoming from higher authorities to put out the blaze, which lasted for three hours. We waited under the open sky to be saved from the fire, but no one came to help.
Some residents said that as a result of the fire, houses, wheat, and livestock of Noorpur were also burnt to ashes. Valuables in the house were also burnt. Due to the terrible fire, wheat and other grains were burnt to ashes.
As a result of the fire, about 20 cattle were burnt to ashes. Many people managed to save their families from the fire but their valuables and livestock could not be saved. According to Pakistani media, this is the sixth fire incident in Dadu since Monday.
The damage caused by all the fires could not be estimated. According to a conservative estimate, at least 136 houses were burnt to ashes. 50 houses in Jalib Rind village, 11 in Mohammad Khoso village, 5 in Saleh Solangi village, and 70 in Faiz Mohammad Khoso Daryani Chandio were reduced to ashes.
Another child died at Jinnah Hospital while undergoing treatment in Karachi, bringing the death toll in Faiz Muhammad Daryani Chandio village to 10. The deceased child Hassan son of Bihar Chandio was shifted from Dadu to Karachi for treatment. At least four people, including a child, are still in critical condition.
