ISLAMABAD: The 48th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has started in the federal capital today.
The two-day ministerial conference will be attended by foreign ministers and dignitaries from OIC member and observer countries. Senior officials from non-OIC countries, as well as senior representatives from regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Arab League, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, will attend the meeting.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the inaugural session today while Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will preside over the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers.
During the meeting, FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi and OIC Secretary-General Hussain Ibrahim Taha reviewed the agenda of the 48th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers and discussed the expected important outcomes. He also discussed the issues facing the Muslim and the role of OIC in this regard.

Highlighting the dire human rights and humanitarian situation in India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the foreign minister appreciated the OIC’s principled stance and its continued support for the just struggle for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. The Secretary-General assured the Foreign Minister of the full cooperation of the OIC Secretariat.
