RAWALPINDI: The Foreign Ministers of Egypt and Uzbekistan have called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ.
According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army Public Relations Department, issues of mutual interest, regional security, and cooperation in all fields of defense and security were discussed during the meeting.
On the occasion, General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pakistan and Egypt have real fraternal relations and stressed the need to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields.
The Chief of Army Staff described the OIC Summit as a historic step towards addressing the critical humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and bringing the international community to a common vision and common strategy.

The Egyptian foreign minister acknowledged Pakistan’s role in regional peace and reiterated his commitment to play a role in promoting diplomatic relations with Pakistan at all levels while praising Pakistan for hosting the OIC event.
Later, Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Furkat Sidikov also met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ. Issues of mutual interest, regional security situation, and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed during the meeting.
The Army Chief said in the meeting that Pakistan values its relations with Uzbekistan. The two countries are rooted in religious affiliation, shared values, geo-strategic importance, mutually beneficial, and better economic and defense cooperation.
The two leaders reiterated their desire to further enhance bilateral relations, including efforts for peace and security in the region.
The guest appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional stability and pledged to play its part in further enhancing diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels. He particularly appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in hosting the 48th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.
