After the court handed out a death penalty to Zahir Jaffer, the prime accused in the Noor Mukadam murder case, politicians and celebrities took to Twitter and hailed the punishment with many expressing relief that justice had been served.
Reactions from politicians and celebrities started pouring in shortly after the verdict was announced.
Mahira Khan was amongst the first to react to the news, noting that Justice for Noor Mukaddam has officially been served. The actress tweeted, “Justice for Noor, in this world, has been served. Alhumdulillah. #NoorMuqaddam”

Joining her was Osman Khalid Butt, an avid social media user, who is often vocal about social stigmas in society.

Meanwhile, Ushna Shah took to Twitter to question the acquittal of Zahir’s parents, who were closely involved in the case. She wrote, “Will celebrate justice once he hangs, which could take years. Side note: If I held someone hostage and killed them, and my middle-class mother was aware of this the entire time and aided me, she’d hang too (or at least spend her life in prison). Just saying.”

“Justice has prevailed,” wrote Adnan Siddiqui, adding, “Death for the monster’s diabolical act deservedly so. My heart goes out to Noor’s family. Hope this brings an iota of peace to them.”
Commenting on the court’s decision, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz Sharif said: “The wounds Noor Mukadam’s rape and murder inflicted on the collective conscience of humanity may never heal but it is reassuring that beasts in human disguise will realise that consequences can be grave.”

Zahir’s crimes were not limited to the violence against Noor but he “used his money and influence to assail the credibility of the victim”, Maryam said, adding, “This perhaps is the only crime where the victim becomes the accused. Rest in peace Noor.”
While saying the verdict was in line with expectations, lawyer and activist Jibran Nasir paid tribute to Noor’s family and friends for fighting and seeking justice for her. However, our society is still far from ensuing protection of women, he added.
Also a lot was reported in media abt Zahir’s parents knowing about the murder & them passing instructions to Zahir on phone but call records only show exchange of calls not what was discussed so it would be difficult in Court to prove beyond reasonable doubt case against parents.

A sessions court in Islamabad sentenced Zahir Jaffer to death for the murder of Noor Mukadam. The court also found him guilty of rape and handed him 25 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs200,000.
Zahir’s household staff Mohammad Iftikhar and Mohammad Jan — both co-accused in the case — were sentenced to 10 years in jail, while all others, including Zahir’s parents and TherapyWorks employees, were acquitted.
