ISLAMABAD: Preparations have been completed for the appointment of Finance Advisor Shaukat Tarin as Finance Minister.
According to details, elections for the vacant Senate seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be held today. The PTI had vacated the Senate seat to appoint Shaukat Tarin as Finance Minister.
Legally, no unelected person can be appointed as Federal Minister for more than six months. Shaukat Tarin also had to resign after six months.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has full confidence in Shaukat Tarin’s economic policies. Therefore, the PTI decided to make Shaukat Tarin the finance minister by winning the Senate seat.
In the upper house, senators from PTI and allied parties will vote for Shaukat Tarin as Finance Minister. On the other hand, the PTI, determined to win Shaukat Tarin in the Senate elections, may also persuade the senators of other political parties to vote for it.
Reliable sources said that completing the number game is not new for PTI. Senators from opposition parties support interests rather than the views of their parties.
Sources said that the chances of PTI candidate Shaukat Tarin winning the election and becoming a senator are very bright but the opposition parties will also fight hard.
