A 72-inch diameter pipeline supplying water to Karachi has burst, resulting in the loss of millions of gallons of water.
According to details, a 72-inch diameter pipeline supplying water to Karachi burst due to which Dhabeji pumping station was cut off from the city.
Officials said that repair work has begun after a major water pipeline exploded. The 72-inch line will take 24 hours to repair. It may be recalled that earlier a water pipeline burst in the Old Golimar area of Karachi as a result of which the underpass was filled with water which was closed for traffic.
Due to the rupture of the water pipeline in the Old Golimar area of Karachi, water started filling up from the night of 1s1 January, due to which the underpass remained closed for 10 hours continuously.
Due to flooding in the underpass, it was closed for traffic which made it difficult for the citizens to get around. The water board asked for repairs.
During January, the worst water crisis lasted for 4 days in Karachi. Two lines of 72 inches burst and people lost 90 million gallons of water.
Repairs to the lines are expected to be completed by Friday. The water supply was expected to start from Saturday, but the city’s water supply returned to normal by Sunday.
