KARACHI: The investigation team probing the murder of Nazim Jokhio has recovered the victim’s clothes and mobile phone from a well near a farmhouse belonging to PPP MPA Jam Owais.
The investigation team has initiated the probe into the murder case of Nazim Jokhio with the assistance of mobile data. The investigators traced the mobile phone location in Jam Goth area of Malir. The audio and video of Nazim Jokhio will be used as the prime evidence in the murder case. The police officials said that the suspects set the well on fire after dumping the belongings of the victim in it.
The investigation team visited the crime scene with Nazim’s brother Afzal Jokhio. The mobile phone and clothes of Nazim Jokhio will be sent for forensic examination. The investigation team expressed suspicion that Jokhio’s skull wound proved fatal. Police said that more facts will come forth after a detailed medical report.
Police said most parts of the phone had burnt in the fire and it would be sent to the Punjab Forensic Laboratory. The police are expecting a major breakthrough in the investigation after receiving the report from the forensic laboratory. The investigation officials said that Nazim Jokhio was held hostage and tortured at the warehouse in Jam House. The police have collected all evidence from the warehouse.
Earlier on November 12, MNA Jam Abdul Karim had been granted protective bail in the Nazim Jokhio murder case. He is the elder brother of prime suspect PPP MPA Jam Owais.
The Balochistan High Court had granted protective bail to Jam Abdul Karim in a petition filed on his behalf by Advocate Sajid Tareen. BHC Chief Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan ordered Jam Abdul Karim to appear before the relevant court within 15 days.
Meanwhile, the brother of Nazim Jokhio has expressed his dissatisfaction over the probe team and has requested Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Mushtaq Maher to provide him security.
In a letter written to the IGP Sindh, Afzal Jokhio expressed his dissatisfaction over the team probing the murder case of Nazim Jokhio and urged to set up a joint interrogation team |(JIT).
He alleged that the arrested MPA and other suspects have been provided with all facilities inside the prison. He further demanded to add clauses under the anti-terrorism act in the murder case. He also demanded of the IG Sindh to provide him and his family with the police and Rangers security.
Local journalist Nazim Jokhio was allegedly tortured to death at the farmhouse of the accused Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Jam Awais for trying to prevent his foreign guests from illegal hunting the endangered houbara bustard.
