19-Year-old mountain climber Shehroze Kashif sets two new world records

LAHORE: Pakistani climber Shehroz Kashif has set two new world records with his two successful expeditions of the two highest peaks in the world.

The Guinness World Record had recognized Shehroze Kashif as the world’s youngest climber to summit the world’s top two tallest mountains Everest (8849m) and K2 (8611m) in the same year within 3 months’ time.

Kashif belongs to Lahore and is only 19-years old, who climbed the peaks of the world’s largest mountains, in just 138 days. Earlier, in July 2021 according to Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaaf’s report, Shehroz Kashif became the youngest Pakistani to summit the second tallest peak in the world, K2, located in northern Pakistan.

The young Pakistani had started climbing mountains at the age of 11 by ascending 3885m Makra Peak. Later, he climbed 4080m Musa Ka Massalah and 4600m Chembra peak. (4600m). Moreover, he also holds the title of to scale 6050m Manglik Sar Shimshal peak at 13, K2 Gondogoro La K2 Base Camp (5585m) at 14, and Khurdopin Pass (5890m) at 15.

Meanwhile, after climbing the mountain Broad Peak (8047m) at the age of 17,  he had earned the title of ‘The Broad Boy’. Earlier, this year Kashif’s mother while talking to the media said, “Kashif is a strong and passionate climber. I told his father not to be worried, and that he never disappoints.”

Most of the highest peaks in Pakistan are in the Karakoram mountain range, which lies almost entirely in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan, and is considered to be a part of the greater Himalayan range.
