SRINAGAR: Kashmiris on both sides of the LoC and around the world are observing Black Day to reject India’s illegal occupation of the valley.
India illegally and cruelly occupied Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, violating the formula of partition of the subcontinent and against the wishes of the oppressed Kashmiri people. Though each year black day is observed by Kashmiris on October 27th.
Hurriyat leaders with the ideology of Kashmir’s self-determination and separation say that, they will never bow to India’s fascist mindset as Kashmir’s struggle for independence is recognized on International levels and we will never accept illegal Indian occupation.
Moreover, on the occasion of Black Day restrictions were tightened in the occupied valley to prevent protests and additional Indian forces were deployed across the valley, including Srinagar, while roadblocks were set up to prevent movements.

However, to create awareness on an international level about the plight of the Kashmiri people, Pakistan has raised the issues of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and unmarked graves in occupied Kashmir at the United Nations and exposed India’s illegal occupation and aggression on oppressed Kashmiris.
Meanwhile, during a working group dialogue at the United Nations seven days ago, Pakistani diplomat Saima Saleem called for compensation for the missing persons and their families in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The conflict over Kashmir dates back to 1947 when Pakistan and India got separated and the valley remained unmarked by Sir Cyril Redcliffe during the marking of borders. After that, to date, the Kashmir Valley is a territorial conflict between both India and Pakistan and several wars have also taken place between both states but the issue remained unresolved.
