NUREMBERG: The funeral of legendary comedian Umer Sharif will be offered today in Germany.
The body of the Pakistani comedian will probably be brought to Pakistan on Tuesday and the comedian’s widow Zareen Ghazal will arrive in Karachi with the body. It may be recalled that the uncrowned king of comedy and actor Umer Sharif died in a hospital in Germany after a long illness.
Sharif was being transferred from Karachi to the United States in an air ambulance for medical treatment but his condition deteriorated the air ambulance had to take an emergency landing in Germany.
Sources said that the hospital where the comedian was being treated had issued the death certificate but the German law requires an official death certificate to send a body to another country.

Earlier this year, Omer was diagnosed with mitral valve regurgitation (a condition in which blood leaks backward instead of flowing out to the rest of the body) after being admitted to the Aga Khan University Hospital for congestive heart failure. The Sindh government released Rs40 million for his treatment at the George Washington University Hospital.
Moreover, Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani tweeted that Shareef will be buried at the Abdullah Shah Ghazi graveyard as per the comedian’s wish. The government is making arrangements for that. The Sindh government has decided to name an underpass and a road after him in Karachi.
