ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the Kamyab Pakistan Program (KPP) on Monday (today) under which loans worth Rs1.4 trillion will be given to 3.7 million families.

In a statement, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said that all preparations for the inauguration of the Kamyab Pakistan Program have been completed. He said KPP is a unique program and will play a key role in poverty alleviation in the country.

Shaukat Tarin said the program is designed to change the lives of disadvantaged sections of society and empower them financially, adding that it also reflected the sense of the state’s responsibility towards its weaker segments of society.  He said this is the first program of its kind in Pakistan to connect banks and low-income groups through microfinance institutions.

The finance minister said KPP has five components, which include interest-free loans to farmers up to half million rupees to start a business, easy installment financing facility under affordable housing scheme to build a house. He said the provision of skill-based scholarships to the youth and Sehat Insaf Card will also be linked with KPP.

He further said the programme aimed to provide support to the people in housing projects, skill development, health cards and interest-free loans for businesses and agricultural services. However, he clarified the targets would be achieved over a period of time and not in one year.
