KARACHI: The 40th martyrdom anniversary of Karbala, including Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his family, is being observed today.
According to details, processions of condolence, knowledge, and Zuljanah will be held across the country. The main procession in Karachi will start from Nishtar Park and will end at Kharadar.
The procession routes in Karachi are closed to the public, containers have been placed on the routes, the Sindh government has tightened security arrangements for the procession participants while double riding of motorcycles will be banned in Sindh.
Chehlum processions in Balochistan will start from Hazara Town and Alimdar Road in Quetta area for which more than 6000 police, taxes, and FC personnel have been deployed.

Aerial surveillance of Chehlum processions will also be carried out in major cities of the country. Strict security arrangements have been made on the procession routes. Chehlum processions will also be taken out from Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar.
Pillion riding has also been banned in Sindh. According to the statement, motorcycling will be banned in Quaidabad, Gawalmandi, Burari, Kalat, Sibi, Naseerabad, and Jaffarabad.
