MULTAN: Nine people were killed and two others injured when a three-storey building collapsed on top of another in Multan following a gas cylinder explosion, officials said.
“The bodies and injured were rescued from the rubble following a five-hour operation in which 70 rescue personnel participated,” District Emergency Officer Dr Kaleemullah was quoted as saying in Dawn.com He added that five individuals of a family were among the dead.
The incident occurred in the Mohalla Jawadian area near Haram Gate.

Multan’s Deputy Commissioner, retired Capt Rizwan Qadir, initiated an inquiry into the matter and formed a technical team to inspect surrounding buildings for safety. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Multan, Sohail Chaudhry, indicated that the preliminary report attributed the collapse to a cylinder blast, causing the roof of the building to cave in on a nearby mud house, trapping residents underneath.
