KARACHI: Orders for transfer and posting of 53 officers and employees of Railway Police have been suspended after reports of the alleged involvement of bribery in the matter.
Inspector General Police (IGP) Railway after taking notice of the reports of alleged bribery, ordered to suspend the postings and transfers.
In a letter signed by KSP Railway Kausar Abbas on June 18, the transfer and posting of the 53 employees have been suspended and after this, all the employees have resumed their responsibilities in their respective departments and locations.
After the issuance of the letter, the officers involved in taking bribes have become nervous, while those who had paid for transfer and posting have started pressuring SHOs for refunds.
The top officials, allegedly involved in receiving bribes, have sent a message to those who had paid bribes, advising them to try to recover their money from illicit sources as soon as possible as refunds are not possible.
Some officers are still working on a new post despite the suspension of their posting on it, as senior officers have forbade them from leaving the post because a refund is not possible.
According to sources, the senior officers are also telling the subordinate officers, that they had handed over the bribe money to the superior officers. However, this is not true and is only a blam.
According to sources, SHO Cantt Khalid, SHO City Asad Unar, Muharrar Cantt Karachi Zaheer Shah, ASI Tariq Bashir, Chowki in-charge Wazir Mansion, ASI Habib Zafar, Reader Shaan, Deputy Reader Abid, and a few other employees are involved in receiving the bribes.
As per the sources, there is no precedent in the history of Railway Police that such a large number of employees have got their desired positions by paying bribes of hundreds of thousands of rupees.
It should be noted that the present IGP Railways is an honest officer with a very good reputation, but despite this, subordinate officers have broken the law.
Currently, dozens of officers are enjoying positions above their ranks, which is a clear violation of Supreme Court orders.
