The Sindh government has announced a public holiday across the province on December 27 to mark the 17th anniversary of the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto.
A formal notification has been issued stating that all government and semi-government offices, educational institutions, and business centers will remain closed on that day.
On the occasion of the martyr’s anniversary, important events will be held at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. During this time, the Sindh Home Department has requested the Federal Ministry of Interior to provide a helicopter to ensure aerial surveillance during the ceremony.
Additionally, public holidays have been declared nationwide on December 25 and 26 in observance of Christmas. December 25 will celebrate the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah along with Christmas, while December 26 will be a special holiday for the Christian community to celebrate the festival.
After December 25, 26, and 27, the citizens will enjoy a five-day break due to Saturday on December 28 and Sunday on December 29. This break will not only be suitable for social and religious events but also provide an opportunity for citizens to relax and spend time with their families.
These holidays have been welcomed by the government, while people from various religions and communities have regarded these announcements as an important step toward promoting tolerance and mutual harmony.
