MULTAN: The three-day 706th Urs of the great saint of the Sub-continent Hazrat Shah Ruknuddin Alam Suhrwardi started with religious zeal and admiration on Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi as Caretaker of the shrine inaugurated the Urs ceremonies by the foremost traditional practice of rose water washing of the grave and laying the floral wreath.
On the occasion of the inaugural ceremony, the Parliamentary secretary Finance, Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab, Javed Akhtar Ansari, and Mureed Hussain Qureshi were also present.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi as Caretaker of the shrine prayed for the development and prosperity of the country.
While addressing the people at the ceremony he said that the great saint flourished Islamic teachings across Pakistan, adding that the spiritual help was still in progress as thousands of devotees visit the shrine yearly.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to shield all the devotees and supporters from severe weather conditions. He also requests to the district administration to provide all necessary facilities to devotees during three-day Urs.
While, in the wake of the widely attended occasion, the local administration had made tight security arrangements by deploying police.
