Seventeen new green and pink buses, imported from China, have reached Quetta.
According to the Balochistan Transport Department, the new buses incurred an expenditure of 810 million rupees (Rs. 81 crore).
The Transport Department stated that the 17 buses brought to Quetta include 4 pink buses, which will be run for women within Quetta city.
These buses will operate on various routes across Quetta.
The project involves a total fleet expansion, with a significant number of new, modern buses imported from China. The initial operational fleet in Quetta was 8 buses, but the new batch expands the service substantially.
The buses operate on key routes to facilitate maximum commuter traffic:
The service often covers major routes like the one from University to Sariab Mill.
There are plans to expand the service to more areas, such as Kuchlak, as more buses are added to the fleet in future phases.
This project aligns Quetta with other major Pakistani cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, which have successfully introduced modern mass transit systems.
