The Red Sea International Film Festival has been inaugurated in Jeddah. Renowned artists from Pakistan and around the world graced the red carpet.
Pakistani artists who participated in the global festival included Atiqa Odho, Tousiq Haider, and filmmaker/actor Shahzad Nawaz.
Inaugurating the international film festival in Jeddah, Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan stated that the fifth edition of the festival is the result of the notable efforts and generous support of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Saudi Minister of Culture added that [the festival] plays a role in stimulating economic development and consolidating the Kingdom’s position as an important cinematic destination.
The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) is one of the most important and rapidly growing film festivals in the Middle East and is a huge platform for Pakistani cinema.
The prestigious “Red Sea: Competition” strand features 16 films (narrative, animation, and documentary) from the Arab world, Asia, and Africa, vying for the top honor, the Yusr Awards.
The festival opened with the film “Giant,” a biopic about the British-Yemeni boxing champion Prince Naseem ‘Naz’ Hamed, starring Amir El-Masry and Pierce Brosnan.
The red carpet provides Pakistani artists like Atiqa Odho, Tousiq Haider, and Shahzad Nawaz with global visibility, allowing them to network with Hollywood, Bollywood, and international industry giants.
