Fourteen labourers working on construction projects have been abducted in separate incidents in the districts of Khuzdar and Barkhan, while armed assailants also reportedly disarmed police personnel during one of the attacks.
According to police, the first incident took place around 50 kilometres from Khuzdar in the Moola area, where gunmen riding motorcycles stormed a camp belonging to a private construction company engaged in a water channel project.
The attackers forced nine workers into a vehicle at gunpoint and took them to an undisclosed location.
Those abducted include project manager Gul Sher. Two of the workers are said to be from Sindh, while the remaining seven belong to various parts of Balochistan.
In a separate incident near Dhola Nadi in Barkhan, armed men opened fire at a crush plant operated by a private company working on a road construction scheme.
Five labourers present at the site were abducted before the assailants fled towards nearby hills. The kidnapped workers are reported to be residents of Musa Khel district in Balochistan.
Police further stated that the attackers also targeted a nearby police check-post, where they allegedly snatched weapons from three officers deployed at the site. Investigations into both incidents are under way.
