10 Reasons Why Drinking Soda Is Bad For Your Health

Drinking high amounts of sugar-sweetened drinks such as soda can have various adverse impacts on your health. These range from increased chances of tooth decay to a higher risk of sleep disorders.
There are 10 reasons why drinking soda is bad for your health: 
1) Soda is strongly linked to weight gain.
Drinking soft drinks is a key contributor to the epidemic of overweight and obesity as such drinks have high sugar content and low satiety.

2) It turns sugar into fat in your liver that causes fatty liver.
Consuming too much sugar through a soda can turn your liver into a fatty one.

3) Drinking soda increases belly fat.
Drinking one can of cola a day for four weeks is equivalent to ingesting 3,920 extra calories, or a gain of 1.1 pounds if the calories are not burned.

4) Soda leads to type 2 diabetes.
The added sugar soda contributes to the rapidly rising rates of type 2 diabetes. It doubles the chances of pre0diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

5) It contains nothing but sugar.
A 12-ounce serving of soda contains 140 calories, often called “empty calories” because they provide no nutritional value. The soda only contains sugar.

6) Sugar present in soda is as addictive as drugs.
Every time we drink soda, it causes the brain to become increasingly hardwired to crave sugar, building up a tolerance like any other drug.

7) Drinking soda may increase heart disease risk.
People who drink soda in a week are at high risk of heart strokes than others who do not.

8) Soda drinkers have a higher risk of cancer.
Cancer tends to go hand-in-hand with other chronic diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.

9) It promotes premature aging.
Intake of an 8-ounce of soda on a daily basis could add almost two years to an individual’s age, in terms of phenotypic signs of aging.

10) Soda is tied to asthma.
Consuming soda two to four times a week led to a 59 percent greater chance of developing asthma.

The consumption of soft drinks with high sugar content and acidity can contribute to detrimental oral health and may also affect general health.
