KARACHI: After her role as the first Hijabi woman in a Marvel movie ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home”, British-Pakistani actress Zoha Rahman is all set to appear in the highly anticipated Ranveer Singh-starrer ’83.
According to a press release issued on Monday, the British-Pakistani actress will be seen playing a first-generation immigrant in the United Kingdom.
Rahman can be seen in the teaser of the film, in which she appears seated in the bleachers in the middle of the nail-biting moment during the 1983 World Cup match between India and West Indies in which the former emerged victorious.
Zoha watches the match from the bleachers, anticipating what might happen next. “It’s an honour to be part of such a huge project next to some of the greatest stars of our time,” said Rahman. “It’s definitely one of the most exciting experiences of my life.”
The actress can currently also be seen making waves in the Pakistan Entertainment industry in the 7th Sky Entertainment blockbuster serial Dil-e-Momin.
‘83 revolves around “the match that united India,” – the country’s iconic win against West Indies in the 1983 World Cup, with Ranveer Singh starring as cricketer Kapil Dev.
Sharing the teaser on his Instagram, Ranveer wrote, “The greatest Story. The greatest Glory. ‘83 releasing in cinemas on December 24, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Teaser out now. Trailer out on November 30.”
The film also stars Deepika Padukone, who plays Dev’s wife Romi Bhatia in the film. The couple has previously worked together in numerous hits, including Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
