ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the world has to step up to save eight million innocent Kashmiris from the Indian oppression.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi participated in a rally today in Islamabad that was held to express moral, political and diplomatic support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz, parliamentarians and people belonging to different segments of the society attended the rally.
The participants are carrying the Kashmiri flags and banners highlighting the Indian brutalities on the Kashmiri people. On the occasion, FM Qureshi said Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri people in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
He said the Kashmiri people will succeed in their just and legitimate struggle. He said the media should play its role to further highlight the worst human rights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Qureshi said Pakistan reaffirms its unflinching solidarity with the Kashmiris in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the entire Pakistani nation stands with them in their valiant struggle to secure their inalienable right to self-determination.
The foreign minister urged the international community to hold India accountable for its egregious violations of human rights and serious crimes against the Kashmiri people.
He said that for 18 months now, IIOJ&K is under continuous Indian military siege, with the Kashmiris virtually caged in their own houses, reeling under communications blockade, and facing severe restrictions on the media.
Following the extremist “Hindutva” ideology, the RSS-BJP regime has also embarked on a design to change the demographic structure of the occupied territory and obliterate the distinct Kashmiri identity, he added.
He urged the world to put pressure on India to lift communication restrictions in IoK, enable the dissemination of information and ensure the unfettered supply of daily items to the people.
Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed across the world on Friday (today) to express wholehearted support of the Pakistani nation to the just struggle of Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination under the UN resolutions.
The main purpose to mark the day is to expose the worst ever oppression perpetrated by India against Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
