A young woman, identified as Huma (22), daughter of Mushtaq, was allegedly tortured and strangled by her in-laws in Baghbanpura, Lahore.
Huma, who married Asad Ali in 2022, reportedly faced regular abuse from her husband, Asad, as well as her father-in-law, Jafar, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law.
Huma’s father, Mushtaq, alleged that her in-laws often subjected her to violence over minor domestic disputes. A few days ago, Mushtaq’s son, Ashfaq, received a call from Huma’s father-in-law, informing him of her sudden death. When the family arrived at her in-laws’ residence, they discovered marks of torture on her neck and other parts of her body.
Mushtaq immediately contacted the police, who arrived on the scene and transferred Huma’s body to the city morgue for a post-mortem examination. A murder case has since been filed based on Mushtaq’s complaint, and an investigation is underway.
In an unrelated incident in Nishtar Colony, a factory worker named Tauqeer was found dead at his home under suspicious circumstances. Police have also moved his body to the morgue to determine the cause of death.
