After the victory of Donald Trump in the US election, there are also signs of change in the situation in Pakistan, in this regard, PTI is hopeful that Trump will bring a message of release for his friend Imran Khan as president.
Imran Khan’s supporters in the Pakistani-American community believe that Trump will take an interest in the former prime minister’s affairs during his second presidential term, because when Trump was president, he met the then prime minister Imran Khan several times, including at the White House, and called him a “good friend.”
PTI journalists in Pakistan are also hopeful of Trump’s victory in the presidential election and on this occasion, the alleged regime change operation is once again being mentioned.
However, Foreign Policy Director Michael Kugelman said the engagement was likely less about genuine friendship and more about Trump’s desire to facilitate meetings with the Taliban to begin the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Michael Kugelman said Trump’s silence about Imran Khan during his campaign shows that “the former prime minister and Pakistan” will likely not be on his list of priorities.
