“Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups”, which was described by star actor Kiara Advani as the boldest and most challenging chapter of her career, is set to hit theaters worldwide on August 26.
The film promises a dark psychological-gangster drama set against the backdrop of historical Goa.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the highly anticipated film features an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
Set between the early 1940s and 1970s, the story develops during the final years of Portuguese rule in Goa. The film is about powerful crime syndicates and drug cartels that move in to fill the power vacuum as the colonial rule show signs of weakness.
The film reportedly has an estimated budget of ₹850 crore to ₹1,000 crore, potentially making it one of the most expensive productions in Indian cinema.
OTT release
Toxic does not yet have an official OTT release date. Its digital streaming rights are reportedly yet to be finalized amid high asking prices. Indian blockbusters typically premiere on streaming platforms after an eight-to-10-week theatrical window.
