Pakistan Day is observed annually on March 23 as a national holiday to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of 1940 and the adoption of Pakistan’s first constitution in 1956. On this day, government offices, schools, and most businesses remain closed, however this year 23 March is fall on Sunday.
In Pakistan, if a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the government does not typically announce an alternate holiday, however, this year due to Ramadan people are expected the government to announce an alternative public holiday on Monday, 24 March.
Thought the government has not given any hint in this regard so far, some user on social media are demanding the government to announce an alternative holiday on 24 March this year due to Ramadan.
Earlier it was reported that the Pakistan Day parade on March 23 will be held at the President’s House this year, marking a departure from its traditional venue due to the ongoing month of Ramadan and government austerity measures.
As per media reports, the event will showcase a scaled-down exhibition of military equipment, highlighting only select weapons. Similarly, the Pakistan Air Force’s aerial performance will be limited.
This year’s program will include a guard of honor for President Asif Ali Zardari and will be attended by prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and the heads of the army, navy, and air force. Coordinated by the Joint Staff Headquarters, the event aims to emphasize Pakistan’s military capabilities and promote national unity.
