The Drug Testing Laboratory has revealed a major scandal involving the sale of widespread fake medicines across Sindh, as reported by national media on Thursday.
According to a report citing sources, the Head of the Drug Testing Laboratory, Adnan Rizvi, stated that several medicines were found to be fake and counterfeit, as medicines from seven companies were identified as fake.
Alarmingly, the companies involved in manufacturing fake drugs are completely nonexistent. The report states that Adnan Rizvi said those producing fake medicines are endangering human lives and demanded strict action against the culprits under the Drug Act.
In the past, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad, during a crackdown against criminals, arrested two alleged culprits involved in the sale of unregistered and counterfeit medicines.
The FIA spokesperson stated that a suspect, Mazhar Qeebbal, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the sale of fake and counterfeit medicines from a medical store in Diplomatic Enclave, Islamabad. He confirmed that this arrest followed the recent detention of two suspects from the same medical store last week.
