Youm-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (Finality of Prophethood Day) is observed in Pakistan every year on September 7 with full religious zeal and fervor. Rallies and gatherings are organized to highlight the significance of this day.
The day commemorates the decision made during the government of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on September 7, 1974, when the Qadianis were officially declared a non-Muslim minority through the Qadiani Ordinance. This decision is marked annually with great religious passion by various groups through rallies and gatherings to affirm the exalted status of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) prophethood.
On September 7, Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conferences are held across the country, where religious scholars emphasize the importance of belief in the finality of prophethood for Muslims. This year, the day is being officially celebrated in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well. Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwaar-ul-Haq announced that September 7 will be officially recognized as Youm-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, following a resolution passed by the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry noted that September 7 serves as a reminder of the historic decision taken unanimously by the parliament to protect the belief in the finality of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) prophethood.
In a message issued on the eve of Youm-e-Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, which is being celebrated with full religious fervor, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry expressed that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir have always upheld the sanctity of the finality of prophethood and have made significant sacrifices for its protection. He added, “While celebrating the day, we also renew our pledge to stay united for the protection of Tahaffuz-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat.”
