Why?
The absence of caffeine significantly changes the flow of blood and even the electrical activity in your brain. Caffeine constricts the blood vessels around the brain, and when caffeine is withdrawn for some reason, these arteries dilate again, causing a headache which is a symptom that you are addicted to caffeine and can be experienced by people who drink only one cup of tea or coffee throughout the day.
Symptoms of caffeine withdrawal
The researchers identified five clusters of common withdrawal symptoms: headache; fatigue or drowsiness; dysphoric mood including depression and irritability; difficulty concentrating; and flu-like symptoms of nausea, vomiting and muscle pain or stiffness.
How to stop caffeine withdrawal headaches?
Stay hydrated.
Apply an ice pack to your head.
Get some rest.
The bottom line is that the best way is to cut back slowly. You should aim to reduce your intake by about 25 percent each week.
