Pakistani sports presenter Zainab Abbas has reportedly left the ICC World Cup in India and reached Dubai as pressure grew over a case filed against her.
Zainab Abbas, a well-known sports presenter from Pakistan, has been in legal trouble due to some of her past social media posts.
Although many Pakistani journalists are still waiting for their visas to be issued by Indian authorities as she was included in the ICC’s list of presenters for the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, her previous online activities have been scrutinised by the Indians.
An Indian lawyer named Vineet Jindal had announced that he had filed a case against Abbas with Delhi’s cyber cell over ‘anti-hindu’ tweets posted from her account on Twitter (now X) years ago.
Sources said that Abbas has been in Dubai for the past two days after she was reportedly given a safe passage by the ICC.

An ICC spokesperson said she has left the event due to personal reasons, sources said.
On the other hand, Indian media is claiming that Abbas was deported, sources confirmed that she had left on her own accord.
The account’s handle was ‘Zainablovesrk’ when the tweets were posted and have since been changed to ‘ZAbbasOfficial’.
The lawyer had demanded that she should be removed from the panel of presenters over her ‘derogatory’ posts.
The news came on October 5, just as the cricket World Cup was about to begin in India.
Zainab Abbas is a renowned presenter who has been a regular at major ICC tournaments for years.
