KARACHI: World Health Organisation (WHO) team on Friday visited Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to inspect the precautionary measures against coronavirus outbreak.
During the visit, Executive Director JPMC, Dr Seemi Jamali informed World Health Organisation’s country representative to Pakistan, Dr Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala with the arrangements made against the coronavirus outbreak.
Citing the arrangements Dr Seemin Jamali maintained that 10 rooms, isolation wards and separate facilities for patients had been established. She further said that a rapid response team had been formed to deal with the coronavirus outbreak.
Jamali informed severe instructions have been given to all our staff members to remain vigilant and take precautionary steps, she added.
She said JPMC had obtained ten hazmat suits and some masks from the World Health Organisation at the start of coronavirus outbreak in China, however, the government had also provided some personal protective equipment, medicines and machinery to treat with the emergency situation.
World Health Organisation team expressed satisfaction over precautionary steps and screening systems used in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for coronavirus patients.
Earlier, Gunarathna Mahipala paid a visit to Jinnah International Airport Karachi and also expressed satisfaction with the arrangements of screening of passengers reaching from abroad.
