Indian police have arrested another YouTuber on charges of spying for Pakistan in what termed to be a major operation against espionage network with suspected links to Pakistan.
Acting on intelligence, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali has launched a detailed investigation into the activities of Jasbir Singh, who operates a YouTube channel called “Jaan Mahal”.
Indian police claim that following the arrest of Jyoti Malhotra, Jasbir Singh attempted to erase all evidence of his communications with Pakistani agencies. He reportedly visited Pakistan three times—in 2020, 2021, and 2024.
“Investigations have revealed that Jasbir attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish’s invitation, where he met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. He travelled to Pakistan on three occasions (2020, 2021, 2024), and his electronic devices contained multiple Pakistan-based numbers, now under detailed forensic scrutiny,” Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
Investigating officials alleged that Jasbir Singh had links with Ehsaan-ur-Raheem, alias Danish, who was posted at the Pakistan High Commission and was recently expelled from India. Moreover, Singh is said to have had connections with Pakistani intelligence officer Shakir, alias Jatt Randhawa.
Police also said that electronic devices recovered from Singh’s possession contained Pakistani phone numbers.
An FIR has been registered against Jasbir at the Special Operations Cell in Mohali. Police say investigations are ongoing to fully expose this extensive espionage and terrorism network and apprehend all accomplices.
