In a tragic accident that has shocked both her university and community, Dania Zaheer, a 25-year-old Pakistani student, was critically injured in a hit-and-run collision in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred Thursday evening near the Galleria area when Zaheer was struck by a speeding vehicle. The driver fled the scene, leaving Zaheer with severe injuries, including fractures to her pelvis, hip, arm, and femur.

Dania Zaheer is a 25-year-old Pakistani student currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at North American University in Houston, Texas. Originally from Karachi, Pakistan, Zaheer moved to the United States with the hope of furthering her education and building a promising career. Known for her academic excellence, she has been recognized as one of the standout students at her university.
She was crossing the street at Westheimer and Sage when the accident happened. Emergency responders rushed her to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she has since been treated for multiple broken bones and complications, including fluid in her lungs. She is scheduled to undergo major surgery today.
The accident has left Zaheer facing an uncertain future. Despite being a stellar student with promising career prospects, she now contends with significant physical and emotional trauma. Her family in Karachi is unable to travel to be by her side, and she is grappling with the reality of being alone in a foreign country.
In response to the incident, the Pakistani Consul General Aftab Chaudhry and former Federal Minister Baber Ghori visited Zaheer in the hospital, offering their support and ensuring that she is not alone during this difficult time. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has also assured that the Pakistani government is ready to assist Zaheer’s family if they choose to come to the US. The authorities are actively searching for the hit-and-run driver but have yet to release any details about the suspect.
