Anthony Cameron O’Reilly, a Dublin-born businessman and financier with dual Irish and Australian citizenship, has recently come into the spotlight following reports of his engagement to British screenwriter and producer Jemima Goldsmith, the former wife of Imran Khan.
Born on April 28, 1964, O’Reilly is the son of the late media magnate and rugby international Sir Anthony O’Reilly. He built his career across media, private equity, and energy sectors, gaining recognition for his leadership roles in major international ventures.
O’Reilly served as CEO of APN News & Media from 1996 to 2000, where he managed one of Australia’s largest press groups. In 2003, he founded Bayard Capital, focusing on investments in energy and water technologies.
Among his notable business achievements was the acquisition of Swiss metering company Landis+Gyr, where he served as managing director and oversaw its $2.3 billion sale to Toshiba in 2011.
More recently, O’Reilly has been involved in film and documentary production as an executive producer, an industry connection that reportedly led to his relationship with Goldsmith.
According to media reports, the couple have been in a private relationship for about a year and are now engaged, dividing their time between London and O’Reilly’s residence in Switzerland.
On the personal front, O’Reilly was previously married to Ilse O’Reilly for two decades before their divorce in 2022. The former couple share four children.
He is also a graduate of the University of Oxford, where he earned an honors degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE).
