The government of Pakistan Tuesday distributed excellence awards to the top taxpayers of the country and announced that it would issue blue passports and honor cards to the award-winning taxpayers, as well as grant them the status of honorary ambassadors of the country.
In this regard, a ceremony was held in Islamabad, during which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif distributed the awards and made announcements about granting blue passports and honorary ambassadorships to the taxpayers.
On this occasion, Finance Minister Aurangzeb termed the taxpayers as national heroes.
The five highest taxpayers in Pakistan are as follows:
Imtiaz Hussain from Imtiaz Provision Store leads the list of top taxpayers in Pakistan, followed by Musadaq Zulqarnain, Chairman of Interloop Ltd, who was the second-highest taxpayer in the country. Tarique Aziz Channa, Proprietor of MBC & SONS Builders & Developers, secured the third spot, with Volta boss Muhammad Haroon Mehmood taking the fourth spot, and Tariq Rafi from Siddiqsons Group claiming the fifth position.
Company-wise top taxpayers include Muslim Commercial Bank Limited, United Bank Limited, Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited, Habib Bank Limited, and National Bank of Pakistan.
What is Pakistan’s Blue Passport?
Different from a regular passport, the official blue passport allows entry to around seventy 70 countries around the world without undergoing a visa process.
Government officials and high-ups are entitled to get blue passports. These passports were issued under Schedule III of Passport Rules 2021 and provided to government officials and individuals representing Pakistan on official business.
